What is intermittent fasting?
Intermittent fasting cycles between periods of fasting and eating. It doesn't prescribe what to eat, but when. Common protocols include 16:8 and 14:10. Most fasting hours are spent sleeping.
Which fasting plan should I start with?
If you're new, start with 12:12 or 14:10. These are gentle and let your body adapt. Intermittent will recommend a plan based on your experience, health conditions, and goals.
Is fasting safe for me?
Intermittent includes safety features that adapt based on diabetes, heart conditions, eating disorders, pregnancy, nursing, and GLP-1 medications. Always consult a healthcare professional before starting.
How does Intermittent personalise my experience?
During onboarding, the app collects your age, sex, height, weight, activity level, eating style, fasting experience, health conditions, and goals. This powers all personalised calculations.
Using the App
How do I start a fast?
Tap "Start Fast" on the Today screen. The timer shows your progress through each metabolic stage in real time.
Can I extend my fast?
Yes. When your timer completes, tap "+2 Hours" to keep going.
What do the metabolic stages mean?
Six stages: Fed State, Early Fasting, Fasting State, Fat Burning, Ketosis, Deep Autophagy. Each is personalised to your body.
How accurate are the ketone and glucose estimates?
Mathematical estimates based on scientific formulas and your profile. Not clinical measurements. For accuracy, use a blood ketone meter or CGM.
How is my water goal calculated?
35ml per kg body weight, adjusted for activity and sex. Track in glasses, litres, or fl oz.

What does Pro include?
Every feature in the app — fasting timer, all 7 protocols, metabolic tracking, guided plans, challenges, progress photos, zone detail science cards, personalised article feed, data export, streak recovery, and monthly check-ins.
How do I subscribe or cancel?
Subscribe through the app. Cancel anytime through App Store or Play Store settings.
How do I restore my purchase?
Settings → Restore Purchases.
Data and Privacy
Where is my data stored?
Locally on your device. Not transmitted to any server. iCloud backup may store a copy if enabled.
Does Intermittent sell my data?
No. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with any third party.
Can I export my data?
Pro subscribers can export fasting history, weight, sleep, water, and metabolic estimates as CSV or PDF.
What happens if I delete the app?
All locally stored data is deleted. iCloud backups may persist separately.
